New Goals & New Things

It’s been a while since my last blog. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with a lot over the last week. I have a lot of things to post, though. I’ll get to them as soon as I can. First priority which will hopefully come before the weekend is over is my review on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2! I thought I would first shed a little light as to what I’ve been doing this week that has kept me so busy!

  • COOKING – I’ve been spending a bit more time in the kitchen over the last week. Made some delicious Cheesecake balls for my community group, which are in the freezer to take on Tuesday, I think anyway. I took pictures and plan to post about that soon! I’ve also just today tried a new Weight Watchers recipe I found in the magazine. Probably won’t be blogging about that one, though because I’m too lazy to take pictures! It turned out pretty good, but I’m just not crazy about chilled soups so I ended up warming it back up. It just tasted better warm!
  • NEW LAPTOP – I don’t think I ever mentioned that I ordered myself a new laptop. I haven’t had my own laptop in years and I’ve been really wanting lately to have something portable that I could use for writing, gaming and just general computing without being confined to the room where my desktop computer is. It actually arrived a week earlier than was estimated! Got it in on Wednesday and you can bet that’s what I’m writing this blog post from! I love it so much! Minus one minor thing that drives me crazy. Occasionally this blank space shows above all maximized windows where it shows the desktop wallpaper. When you restart it usually doesn’t show but after the computer goes into sleep, when it resumes it’s there. Really odd and really irritating. Regardless, I love it! It’s a Dell XPS 17.
  • TIME-LOST CAMPING – I mentioned in my last post I was trying to get the Phosphorescent Drake in World of Warcraft by attempting to track down the rare dragon, Aeonaxx. Took a break from doing that and instead decided to go help Sarah get her Time-Lost Proto-Drake. As of last night, we were finally successful! Sarah has gotten about 2 hours of sleep per day all week. I was so happy to be able to help her get it. Now we understand why it was called the Time-Lost Proto-drake. Because we certainly lost a lot of time trying to get it!
  • I also got my stitches out on Monday and it seems to be healing up pretty nicely. Hopefully the scar won’t last long. Other than that, I really haven’t been up to much. I’d like to say I’ve been spending a lot of my time keeping up with ChaLEAN Extreme but I haven’t been. Now that I have my laptop, though. I plan to get back on track with that. I’ll restart the last week I was on this coming Monday and get back on track! I also have a lot to do around the house that I’ve been slacking off on.

I started working on my Day Zero Project. Right now I’m just putting in random things and eventually I’ll compile a real list to put on a page here. Gotta start somewhere, right? I suppose the first thing on my list should be Finish Making a 101 in 1001 list. I’m sure most of my list will be really goofy things.

    Random Nerdiness

This week went by fast just as I was hoping. Only a few more days of these pesky stitches and let me tell you, my skin is so ready to be rid of them and the adhesive from all the bandaids. I had typed up most of this post yesterday but didn’t finish and forgot all about it once I got home from work. Such is the life of someone with attention problems! So here are more random thoughts, things going on in my life right now:

  • In last week’s random thoughts I mentioned how I really wanted to try out Google+. Lucky for me Shannon stumbled upon my blog and gave me a ninja hookup! I have to say, while it still needs a little tweaking, I’m quite pleased with it! In all the ways Facebook is inconvenient, Google+ is convenient! I especially love the Android App and how it ACTUALLY WORKS! Also the feature that as soon as I take pictures on my phone they’re automatically uploaded to Google+ for future sharing purposes is really handy.
  • My dermatologists’ office called me on Tuesday and told me that the the mole they removed and tested was benign! Praise the Lord! I was pretty confident it wasn’t a problem since I’m not the tanning type but still, you never really know so it’s a huge relief either way!
  • Since before Christmas I’ve occasionally been called on to make some graphics for my church. Nothing major just small stuff. It feels really good to use my skills in a way that helps the mission of the church! In all I’ve helped with 4 different projects and I was just asked to try my hand at another. I came up with something I thought looked good but we’ll see if I delivered the magic that was expected of me!
  • And to close this week’s edition of randomness, I have decided to speak of my nerdiness. I’ve been playing World of Warcraft a bit lately. I only play casually when I do play. I like hunting achievements and collecting pets, mounts and fun objects. I would run heroics if i had decent people to run them with (randoms are just total headaches and 95% of them are rude people) and I don’t have time for Raiding. The problem with that is there are really spiffy mounts that I’ll never get my hands on. So when there are rare spawns that drop awesome mounts like the Phosphorescent Stone Drake, I’m all for it. I’m pretty impatient so camping doesn’t last long for me. Regardless, I’ve been camping it for a couple weeks now.

I nearly had a heart attack last night because my NPCScan addon started flipping out and in a panic I start looking around for the dragon only to see it zoom past with a cursed alliance character riding on it/attacking it. Such a bummer! So close and yet so far away. So I’ll just continue running it in the background and hope a bit of luck comes my way!

I hope everyone out there is having a Fabulous Friday! Are you doing anything exciting this weekend?

    Live With Passion

My Church started a new series on Sunday called At The Movies They’ve done this before and I always love it. Basically they take popular current/upcoming movies and find spiritual truths in them. This week was about Passion for God. Rob used the example of the upcoming Captain America movie and Steve Rogers’ willing transformation all because of his passion for his Country.

Between the online notes and discussing this last night in my Community Group, I’ve definitely been thinking a lot about it. Truth is, I feel like my Passion for God is somewhere in the middle of the scale. I feel like I have definitely grown in my relationship with God over the past few years but I still feel like there is a lot of room for improvement.

We talked last night about the things we are passionate about. I’ve been trying to think of the big things I’m passionate about and I feel like this is something I always have trouble defining. I enjoy a lot of different things but when you’re passionate about something you’re pretty much audacious when it comes to it. So what is it I’m audacious about? Here are a few things I think I’m pretty audacious, and therefore passionate about:

  • American Idol – I don’t know what it is or why, but I’m pretty outspoken about this show. I’ve joined Online Office Pools (and actually won a $10.00 amazon gift card for placing in the Top 10 of the pool for 2011), participated in message board discussions, gotten into heated debates, tracked DialIdol, made elimination predictions, and probably spammed twitter far too much all about this show. I think it goes pretty hand in hand with my love for music/singing. I feel like I know what I’m talking about and I feel like I’m a good judge of what’s good and what would sell records.
  • Movie Scores – I’ve always had a love for movie scores/soundtracks but over the last few years this love has completely blossomed. Even if I don’t particularly want to see a film, I will still listen to the score. Pretty often the score will even BE a reason I see a movie and in some cases might even make or break a film for me. I’m definitely not an instrumentalist (but I’d love to be one) and I’m certainly not a composer, but sometimes the music tells more of the story of a film than the film itself and that’s why I love it.
  • Weight Watchers – Since joining, settling into a more healthy lifestyle and having success I feel like this is becoming one of my passions. I love trying out new exercises and looking up new WW friendly recipes and trying out new food. I pretty much tell everyone I know about Weight Watchers and try and keep them up to speed on what the healthier choices are!
  • I know another one of my passions is FAMILY. I think that’s pretty self-explanatory. I’m sure things like Crafts, Video Games and YA Fiction probably rank on my list as well. Like I said, I have a lot of interests and I think my passions change with the seasons but one passion should never change and should only become greater and that’s my Passion for God.

I think a very big key to happiness is living life with PASSION. Maybe for you it’s just finding something to be passionate about at all or maybe you need to give up a passion that might not be beneficial and replace it with something that makes a difference in your life and/or the life of others. Either way, your life NEEDS passion!

    What are you passionate about?
